The Christian church, throughout the two thousand years of her history, has contended for the faith, laboring to preserve and proclaim the whole counsel of God. In the providence of God, this has often been accomplished through the careful and deliberate formulation of creeds and confessions. These confessions serve to summarize the essential doctrines of Holy Scripture, as well as to guard the Church of God against error.
Among these historic creeds, we receive and affirm the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, and the Definition of Chalcedon.
We subscribe to the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689) as our primary doctrinal standard.
SHC leadership has also developed a more concise summary of our central doctrinal commitments for more clarity and ease of use.
